The flowering currant bush (Ribes Sanguineum), steps into the limelight in early Spring, when its twigs suddenly burst into a vibrant raspberry coloured blossom, either with, or slightly before the leaves unfold. In the wild it can often be found in hedgerows, or on the outskirts of wooded areas.
In your garden it's really easy to grow from cuttings, just plant a twig in the ground and it will start to grow in no time. It likes a sunny position, but will also tolerate light shade.
The bush smalls of currants, and bees love it. The flowers bring both colour and fragrance to a leafy lunch, and are completely safe to add to the tortoise diet.
